He is in private practice as an American Board of Orthopedic Surgery Certified surgeon specializing in sports medicine and joint replacement of the hip and knee. Dr. Raj was born in Novia Scotia, Canada May 26, 1970. His parents were immigrants from India and exiled from Ethiopia. Raj completed his undergraduate education at Dalhousie University in Halifax with a degree in Chemistry.
Dr. Raj completed his medical school and orthopedic surgery residency both at Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada. He performed a subsequent joint replacement fellowship with Dr. Harlan Amstutz in 2000-2001 at The Joint Replacement Institute at St. Vincent Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA.
For the first 5 years after Fellowship Dr. Raj worked in private practice in downtown Los Angeles and in Modesto California at Stanislaus Orthopedic and Sports Medicine.
In 2006, Dr. Raj opened the Beverly Hills Orthopedic Institute. He performs hip, knee and shoulder orthopedic surgery at a very high skill level and has been named one of America’s Top Orthopedists five years in a row from 2009-2013. He achieved Board Certification in Dubai in 2012 and opened an orthopedic clinic there the same year.
Since then, Dr. Raj has been featured prominently in print, online, television and radio media as a highly sought after medical expert on orthopedic conditions.
This includes USA Today, ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS’ The Doctor’s, ABC News, Fox News, Spike TV, Lifestyle Talk Radio Network, Shape Magazine and Men’s Health News.

Dr. Raj has two brothers, one older and one younger. He is married to a UCLA psychiatrist with a daughter, Sonia.
